EDUCATION
What every schoolboy knows: what would that be, these days? Education was once a source of pride for our country and literally a lifesaver for those who used it to improve their lives and escape poverty. Our schools system was and is copied all over the world. Surely, isn’t this one of government’s core competencies?
Freedom-loving and law-abiding, tolerant and well-educated; that used to be us. So what’s going on with education? Here people who know their stuff and take a look over the Wall…
The Campaign for Real Education.Non-partisan, looking to increase choice and raise standards in Britain's schools.
Professional, scholarly [ well, really] and results centred. An excellent way to get into the struggle to help Britain's schoolchildren and their teachers. Their site is here.
Civitas. The Institute for the Study of Civil Society. They provide solutions for social problems, especially in educational excellence in a wide range of academic studies and through offering educational advice, speakers and materials for schools, particularly about the European Union, and provide factual information, advice, analysis and debate. They also help rescue schools and have established a model school of their own. Welfare and moral reformers: they seek and provide answers to problems that beset our society today. Real spirit of Wilberforce stuff.

Teachers blog like crazy. I wonder why?.. Read some of them here; poor dears. And pay attention, becasue I'll be asking questions at the end.
Here's an education petition supporting home schooling against compulsory state education.
"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to to remind his government that parents must remain responsible in law for ensuring the welfare and education of their children and that the state should not seek to appropriate these responsibilities."
I don't know whether I approve of home schooling or not, but this petition is definitely in favour of freedom of choice, and what we learned - or failed to learn - in state schools did not always stand us in good stead.
If you think that parents might just know what's best for their children, then why not look at the petition and decide for yourself?
And if you think Nanny knows best here are three links to people who really, really believe that Nanny knows EVERYTHING.
